I already shared this dress with you all a while ago, but it’s one of my favorite things I’ve made so I’m entering it for the Don’t Forget the 1930s contest.

I was inspired by a couple of the dresses that Jean Harlow wore in the film Red Dust (1932), and I drafted the pattern for this dress myself. I used the book Dress Cutting, a reprinted 1930s drafting book, for the drafting basics and this is what I came up with. The slip I made from the Folkwear pattern #219 Intimacies. It’s one of my favorite garments I’ve ever made, even if it’s not the most complex technically speaking.
